2027 MäksēLife Classic Planner
Every Fall, we get to show you what we’ve been working on all year. This year's reveal has been 2+ years in the making, and it's the biggest change we've made to our Flagship Planner since 2019.
If you've been with us for a while, you probably remember sitting down with your MäksēMarkers, working through every page of text and hoping you were doing it "right." You wanted to hang on to every golden nugget before you turned the page. Then came the satisfaction of seeing each area of your life get its own colorful little container.
You came for the color-coordinated goals. You stayed for the freedom the Makselife system gave you to make plans and set goals that consider the person who is writing them.
And if you're new here, or you looked at us in a past year and the word goals alone made you close the tab, we get it. That's a big part of why this planner changed.
Some of the most important understanding that helped you more fully experience the MäksēLife philosophy came after you bought the planner through more exploration, and for some of you, coaching and training you did in Club Mäksē to really “get” how we do goals differently.
We’ll admit it: the chunky prep pages in our planners were a pretty big ask and felt more like required reading than forward motion.
Before we go any further: We stand behind the system that has helped transform thousands of lives over the last 7 years. The Compass, Monthly Goals, Weekly Reflections + Actions (where the true magic happens!). It was born from 20 years of in-the-field work with clients, it works, and that process is here to stay.
So, if you’re a longtime MäksēLife user, you’ll be glad to know: we didn’t completely rebuild our system. But we DID reimagine how you experience it.
We want you to feel like there’s room for your actual life in these pages instead of having to fit your life into them, right from the first page.
The Artist Formerly Known as the Flagship is now the newly designed Classic Planner. And we hope you love how it feels.
Here are the biggest shifts you’ll find inside the Classic:
The second you open your planner, you’ll see the freedom built into our pages. Gone are bold lines and boxes, replaced with soft hues and creams, reminding you that there is space to breathe, explore and rest within your planner pages. Design matters, and we took this part of the change very seriously. Yes, that means we studied color and design psychology for these changes (we can’t help ourselves).
Compass Assessment → Compass (because the Compass was never intended to serve as a way for you to “grade” your life, and language matters, so we dropped “Assessment”)
Annual Goals → My Year Ahead
Monthly Goals → Monthly Focus
Weekly Actions → Weekly Focus

Why?
The word “goal” has become a bit of a loaded word. A goals list can just keep growing. And the load of expectations grows right along with it. That pressure, baked into the way most of us were taught to set goals, turns a lot of people away from envisioning the life they actually want.
Focus automatically brings you into this moment. Your focus comes along with you in any season, with whatever capacity you might have, and it can change when you do.
Until now, our “Getting Started” pages had some chunky text that taught you how to use the planner.
In the 2027 Classic planner, using the planner is how you learn it.
You identify the season of life you’re in. Reflect on how things have been going. Complete your Compass. Get clear on your Values. And carry that with you as you look to the Year Ahead.

What didn’t change
The bones of the Flagship (ahem, Classic!) you know and love are all still here, they just have different names/looks:
- Eight Areas of Life
- Compass
- Yearly direction
- Monthly focus
- Weekly reflection + focus
- Horizontal or vertical weekly planning
- Monthly reflection
- Quarterly Compass

Want to talk pretty things? Don’t mind if we do.
Soft creamy backgrounds. Our icons are calmer. There’s less color-bar intensity announcing the areas of life.
Did you feel that deep breath?
We want you to feel the permission in these pages instead of us telling you that you have it.
So, I hear there’s more than one planner this year? How do I choose?
Is The Classic My Planner?

I’m so impressed by the way you have put so much thought in the visual presentations of all the information. It makes such a night and day difference. It is so much more calming and welcoming. I can see that you put so much hard work into these changes and it has really paid off. Thank you.
